Safeguarding
The care and safety of your child is our utmost priority and we wish to draw your attention to the ‘Safeguarding’ and ‘Parent Notice Boards’ located in the entrance which provide further information.
Key Person
Your child’s Key Person is there as the first point of contact and is there to help you. Please see them at the earliest opportunity if you have a query.
Snack
We request that parents give their child some fruit to bring to the sessions. It is not necessary to bring fruit to every session that your child attends, but a contribution on a regular basis would be much appreciated!
When the session ends
Children will be brought to the door for collection. If your child is going home with someone other than the usual named person, please ensure you tell a member of the team, who will make a note on the whiteboard. Whoever is collecting your child, and we have not met them before, they MUST be in possession of the correct collection password agreed on the ‘Home Visit’.
Nuts
Please remember that Windsor Kindergarten is a NUT FREE ZONE. It is critical that we keep to this as this coming year we have several children who have serious nut allergies.
Clothing
Please remember to name ALL of your child’s clothing, bags and shoes. Please ensure that clothing worn is suitable for the kindergarten environment. We actively encourage children to play outdoors all year round and would request that you dress your children appropriate to the weather conditions. Clothing that is easy to put on and take off and that is not too precious, is ideal for their sessions at the kindergarten.
Newsletter
The newsletter goes out fortnightly via email. This is our main means of communication with you and details what has been happening in the setting and forthcoming events.
Nappies/ Potty Training
If your child is in pull ups/nappies you must ensure that you provide resource to change them if necessary. This includes nappies and wipes. Windsor Kindergarten does not have nappy changing resources; however, we do supply nappy sacks. Talk to your child’s Key Person if your child is being potty trained so we can support them in the best way.
Birthdays
We are always asked about birthdays at the kindergarten and bringing in things to share with the other children, as a way to celebrate the occasion. This is perfectly acceptable, and the children do enjoy sharing with their friends. These treats are handed out at the end of the session, so that children can take them home with them. We remind you that Windsor Kindergarten is a nut free zone, so please make sure your little cakes or sweets are suitable.
Use of Photographs
We will ask for permission for members of the team to take photos of your child in the Nursery setting or out on Nursery activities. Photos of your child engaged in activities either independently or with other children are valuable evidence of progress in their learning.
Photographs of children are kept safely in individual Learning Logs (Tapestry), but some are used to illustrate activities on display boards, on peg labels and to illustrate the Early Years curriculum.
Team members will only use the camera belonging to the setting and all photographs are stored on the Nursery computer or the tablet. This electronic file is password protected and only the Manager, Deputy Manager and lead technology practitioner will have access to this file. Once children have left the setting, their photographs are deleted from the system.
Photographs may also be required for use on the website, brochures and posters promoting the Kindergarten with parental permission.
Observations at Windsor Kindergarten
Observation, assessment and planning all support children’s development and learning. Our planning starts with observing children in order to understand and consider their current interests, development and learning.
Observation is both formal (planned) but much of it will be informal (spontaneous) carried out as we work with the children. We then assess children’s progress by analysing our observations. We use this information to plan for the next steps in your child’s development and learning. The team members observe children daily and it is an integral part of our practice at Windsor Kindergarten.
Outings
From time to time we will take the children out into the local environment on nature walks and other activities. These trips are planned to support the curriculum and thoroughly risk assessed. Appropriate staff ratios are maintained at all times.
Payment of Fees
Fees are calculated monthly and payable on a monthly basis. Extra sessions are payable in arrears by Direct Debit or by cash on the day.
All on-going fees are payable in advance by regular Direct Debit or Childcare Voucher payments on or before the start date.
The Early Education Grant is available to parents/guardians from the term after your child turns three and this is reflected in our billing arrangements. All Early Education Grants will be deducted from your Invoice.
Discounts of 5% each are available for siblings and this discount applies until the older child leaves the Kindergarten. Discounts are also available for full time bookings at a rate of 5% for the monthly fee.
The Kindergarten reserves the right to charge interest at 5% on all late fees that remain outstanding for 7 days. Parents may be requested to not bring children to the setting if fees remain outstanding beyond 14 days from their due date.
